Let me start off by saying that my interest in volunteering has no relation to medicine. I am not looking to volunteer to improve med school application, I am doing it because I am taking a semester off from school and I can't stand being in my hometown. I'm from New Jersey, and I want to either go someplace in the US that is completely different from here, or go abroad if possible.
I'm looking for a volunteer program that provides housing, and is affordable. I wanted to go abroad, but every program I look at costs 1000 dollars. I am looking for something that is no more than a few hundred dollars.
Can you recommend some specific organizations? Where have you guys gone/what did you do?
