This is a pretty broad question; it might help if you said a little more about your situation. They want you to have related clinical and/or research experience to your goal... whatever that is. Shadowing is important, but that is just baseline. They like to see a level of some depth to your efforts. Our applicants do a wide variety of things from bench research, to data collection for clinical studies, to being a paramedic to feeding the homeless. Many good applicants have done a lot of things for a few hours and then a few things for a lot of hours which shows they have tried a lot of avenues and then narrowed their sights and are defining what they are passionate about.
