Hello everyone. What year should pre-med students start volunteering in hospitals and work on research projects and how many hours of volunteering and research do med-schools require upon admissions?

There's not a set requirement, but the more you have the better it is. It is also good if you can show long-term commitment to a particular volunteer or research experience... that way it looks like more than application padding. So, it is best to start ASAP. On your application you can list anything since you graduated high school. So, assuming you have graduated high school, begin!
