Volunteering hours!

How many hours do you guys have for volunteering? I see that people have over a 1000 hours of volunteering. Is that common? Or do dental schools flag apps that have that much hours. I only have like 50 hours.

yeah some people volunteer a lot, generally couple hundred is fairly common, 50 is on the low side

I have a lot non dental related close to 800. I only have like 60 dental related though. I don't think schools care about the hours but the quality

they most likely do care about the hours too, as if you don't have many hours, you obviously don't dedicate much time to community service, no matter how impactful and meaningful the little community service that you have done was.

Honestly l didn't have many (like 150), but I was heavily involved with other extracurriculars (sports, research, jobs, clubs etc). Make sure you have some, but as long as you're using your time productively, you should be fine.
