Hello,
I just wanted to post my old quote to those who are still seeking volunteer experience in a medical/clinical environment:
"I think volunteering in nursing homes provides good clinical experience because you do have the patient contact/interaction. And, there are a lot of facilities/rehabilitation centers in just one section of one town. Also keep in mind, there are younger people there too (mid-adulthood). Not all of them are geriatric. I think it is best, though, to not only conduct group activities such as Bingo, but to visit the patients/residents who are confined to beds/rooms. Get to know them. Read the newspaper to them if they can't hold the paper up themselves. Play music for them. They need companionship and our young energy. So, you could do group activities for say one hour then make trips to several residents who can't go to group for a couple hours."
Maybe those who do not have volunteer experience can do the above this summer?
Best wishes.
