How about a fun little poll. Let's see how everyone voted. Thoughtful comments please, no flaming.

Let's see who participated in this momentus day today!

Oh, and to all those who did vote - This military veteran is proud of each and every one of you. Thanks for making my service mean something. 🙂

Cheers!!

Yes, I threw away my vote (libertarian: Badnarik), but I live in California and Bush ain't got a chance with wining the state. 🙁

Interesting note: Badnarik is on more ballots then Nadar with Badnarik at 48 states and Nadar in the mid-30's.

Well, at least you voted your conscience. 👍

I really believe that after this election, anyone who says that the modern American citizen doesn't participate in our democracy won't have a leg to stand on.

Furthermore, what with terrorism and such, it seems to me that elections are goign to be a big deal for decades to come.

I'm a Bush/Cheney guy b/c I feel that we need the same Prez. to be in office to finish up the war. Also I am more of a conservative and the views of Bush such as abortion stem cell research fit my style.

I didn't vote in protest of the outdated electoral college.

Unless you live in a swing state, voting pretty much means nothing.

For example, I live in Illinois. Illinois, with the majority of its population living in one metropolitan area, always goes to the Democrats. This is how it was been for years. I am not saying this is a bad thing as I definately would have voted Democratic in this election. However, if I would have voted Republican, I would have thrown my vote away. Illinois always goes to the Democrats and once those 21 electoral votes are designated, my Republican vote means nothing on the national level. It is null and void. All because of a city I have been to 4 times in my life and is 300 miles away from my house.

Sorry, I often get quite get on this tirade when people ask if I voted. It just pisses me off that my vote is either thrown away or added to the coglomeration of Democratic votes in IL. I would much rather have a similar electoral college system where electoral votes are divided out by congressional districts rather than states with the two senate votes begin divied out by the traditional state method. At least that way, my vote would at least mean something.

Alright, I am getting off my soap box now.

Forgetting I needed an absentee ballot - I drove up from Austin to Dallas and got to vote in my elementary school - what a trip!!! [hah..pun..]

anyways, was weird going into that bastion of innocence to make an important/mature decision.

i voted kerry

I totally agree with this. If we changed the way the electoral college works, we'd at least feel like our vote matters. Mine doesn't because of the state I live in, but I put in a protest vote anyway (libertarian). I'm generally more of a Giuliani type Republican, but I'm hoping Bush loses so the Republicans can start with a fresh slate next election.

I lived in Massachusetts for most of my life, and have been a combat medic in 3 war zones........ I voted for Bush! Kerry has done nothing for the people of Massachusetts. He cared only for himself, this is why I could not vote for him even though I am a Democrat. I loved Clinton.....even the Duke( Dukakis sp?).
Anyways...I am just glad it is pretty much over.....may the best man (for our Country) win.

this is amazing.. such a global concern!!! I had a phone call and e-mails from my friends in the UK, Australia, and Austria. They all say that they have 24 hour coverage and can't take their eyes off the TV.. how crazy is that!?

Go Kerry!

Four years ago I voted for Harry Browne, the Libertarian candidate. I was living in AL at the time, so I could get away with making a protest vote since Bush was sure to win the state. This year I am in FL, so no way was I willing to make a protest vote! I don't really like either Bush or Kerry much, but I finally decided to hold my nose and go with Kerry. Mostly I am angry with Bush over Iraq, the huge deficit and debt we now carry, and his in-your-face style of religion and rampant moralizing. Kerry may not be much better, but I'm not sure how he can be any worse. Either way, all I can do is hope that whichever one of these bumblers wins has a plan to help us get out of the messes we're in. I do think Bush will be re-elected, for what it's worth. 😛

Can the north please just form another country. We'll have Kerry as our President. How is it possible that Bush is currently winning???!?! This is so disgusting...I really am questioning my country. I just can't believe intelligent people would vote for Bush...I just can't believe it. I'm going to be seriously ill. I should seriously looking into attending a nice foreign medical school where I can escape Bush's 2nd term as President.

Honestly America, are you blind?!?!?

I know!!! as of right now bush is leading in florida and ohio the big swing states. Its really scary I can't believe he'll be president again !!! 🙁

Leave......I'll send you postcards. I'm from Massachusetts....and I can't believe that ANYONE would be stupid enough to vote for the biggest fake in the history of presidential elections. He has done NOTHING for the people of Massachusetts.

Chill. Bush jumping out to an early lead is just a function of time-zones (you have to wait for Cali). You shouldn't be surprized that Bush is sweeping the Southeast and Midwest. Some of the more important states probably won't know the result until tomorrow (Florida has tons of absentee ballots to count). I think your statement that "I just can't believe intelligent people would vote for Bush" is too harsh. There are a lot of intelligent people that believe in the republican philosophy. Others just don't want to see a malpractice lawyer for Vice President. That doesn't make them stupid.

And Bush has just done so much for this country then? Interesting...I thought he was destroying our country...I guess my eyes and ears must have been closed these past 4 years. Oh yes...please bind church and state: let's ban abortions, not support stem cell research, and most importantly, not let those gays ever get married with a nice little constitutional ammendment. Oh, the war and the environment with Bush are just gonna be so awesome too. Yeah operation ruin america!! I mean, go Bush! Woo!

No sense to even respond to you. BTW..you sound VERY bitter. Did you like Kerry before he ran for president, when you lived in Boston? Or are you just a BUsh hater?

Come on, people. Let's keep it civil. This isn't the Everyone forum.

That includes "If Bush wins I'm leaving" comments as well as the, ah, more strident responses.

Thanks. 🙂

looks like bush will be carrying the country for another 4 yrs.

:sigh:: who knows what tomorrow will bring?

I would just like to say that I am shocked to look at this poll and see that the majority of those participating voted for Kerry/Edwards!!! For so many of you who are hoping to be future doctors how could you vote for two lawyers, one of which made millions of dollars destroying doctor?s lives. The overabundance of medical malprctice lawsuits has lead the great doctors of this country to practice medicine defensively; something that will never benefit anyone!!! Bush, or more importantly, the Republican Party, supports tort reform which will basically take some of these frivolous lawsuits head on and hopefully reinstate some integrity across the country to the practicing physicians. Hillary Clinton ruined health care in this country initially and the election of another democrat could ruin your life, yes YOUR life, if you actually intend to ever practice medicine!!! Also, the following goes without saying...a democrat in office will KILL you when you are practicing as far as taxes are concerned, period!!! This is a minor issue in the grand scheme of things but should be of great importance, especially on this forum; more important issues are on the table namely Iraq and terrorism. We need to stop believing everything reported by the ultra-liberal media who undoubtedly attempts to sway everything and start making reasonable conclusions...YOUR ALL SUPPOSED TO BE SCIENTISTS FOR CHRIST SAKE, don?t believe everything you hear, please. For the sake of the country, try to make informed decisions. I know that many of you are young and fall for the idealism that any candidate presents against an incumbent, ask yourself this...if someone were not to go against everything the current president were doing, how would he expect to be elected into office? HE WOULDNT! Please, be smart on your future trips to your local polling place. Looking at the polls, we can clearly see that more sensible ones have prevailed yet again. Best of luck to you all! :thumbup

You should...and while your there read up on American politics...you shouldnt **** on a country that gives you the opportunity you have and here you are saying "Im going to attend med school in another country, blah, blah, blah". You have given not one reason why you support Kerry or hate Bush for that matter! Oh, and Bush will win because of the "intelligent" people who voted today. Have a nice flight 👎

election day's over and it's time to close this thread. Good night, everyone. 🙂
