Hello,

I have a low GPA (3.5), but have great ECs and am typically an excellent test taker. I know the MCAT is a different ballgame, nothing is guaranteed, etc... but, for the sake of argument:

I am planning on taking the MCAT next June or July. I want to submit my application as early as possible, but I'm sort of relying on a good MCAT score to get interviews at schools "better than" my GPA. Does this make sense? As such, I don't want to be rejected pre-secondary by a school that may change its mind if they see my MCAT score. Do they reject people before seeing MCAT scores? Would it be best to submit as early as possible, or wait until my scores become available?

Thanks

most schools seem to send secondaries without screening (notable exception is the UC's). so, you could go ahead and submit your primary ASAP and then hold off on submitting secondaries until you see your MCAT score.

Or, since you have so much time between now and then, you could try to aim for the April or May MCAT. If that doesn't work out then I agree that you could just wait to submit your secondaries.

At least when I applied, to submit your primary, you must have one MCAT score.

that isn't the case anymore. I definitely submitted without having taken the MCAT, though I was signed up for a july date and this was reflected in the scores section of the application
