I've been thinking over the past week regarding when I should submit my application this year. I'm a first time applicant and I attend a UC school that runs on a quarter system. School ends June 12th, and I called the transcript office which told me that grades are not included on official transcript until 4-5 weeks after, which makes it July 10th-ish.

So here are my considerations. I'm a EE major and I haven't fulfilled all of the requirements for most med schools. Specifically, I'm missing...
- 1 qtr of ochem course
- 1 qtr of ochem lab <Note: at my school lab is separated from the main course, it's a class on its own>
- 1 qtr of biology with lab <i've actually already fulfilled 1 full yr of bio but I'm missing 1 qtr unit of lab...and there are no one unit lab classes...>

I'm planning to take the biology course and the ochem course in Spring. My GPA right is is fairly high at 3.93 BCPM & 3.92 Cumulative. I'm very content with my GPA and would love to apply out with it but if I don't wait for Spring quarter grades, med school won't see my ochem course and bio course grades, both of which are basic requirements. However, if I wait, I can't submit til mid July which means early August verification - doesn't seem like it's worth the wait. I hope med school can tell by my GPA and give me the benefit of the doubt w/o seeing my spring grades. And I don't know if this helps, I'm a 4th year student, which means by the time of application I will have 3 yrs + 2 qtrs of grades behind me (11 total qtrs not including Spring). What does everyone think? Wait so they can see my ochem/bio grades or just apply?

What was your MCAT? And I dont think it matters a lot. A friend of mine got into UC Irvine with out the biochem requirement. All they asked was that he get the class done before he came to school. So go ahead and apply now. You can also send grade updates to schools.

I think you should probably wait until your grades come out. If you submit your transcript and AMCAS in July, you'll still be early enough to be considered for interviews in September.
