Well I was put on a wait list for Touro - NV and the fun continues. I hate being an insurance policy for the adcom, but it's better than the alternative. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions as to when they start offering seats to wait listed people. Is there anything I can do to help the process?

I read on another thread that I should write letters every few weeks to force the admission office to open my file. I already have a letter of intent in the mail.

I would also like to know how many people will be wait listed, but I am sure this info is too soon.

Thanks for any inspirational words

better then being rejected.

Don't hassel them will letters.

I think it is acceptable to write update letters and a letter explaining your committment to attending their school. Make sure you have things to update. If you do some volunteering or Courses... then make sure you let them know.

Keep the faith.

Hey DrB,
I think I interviewed with you at the nevada campus last Tuesday (Ben right? I am the guy sitting infront of you). If it will make you feel better, I got wait listed too 😛 This is my second time getting wait listed. I accidentally found out last Friday (I never wanted to find out with email, I just sent Mr Corbman a thank you email and he just reply me with their results...which was not that good considering I have another interview the following Tuesday). I sort of had a feeling I will be waitlisted after the interview, since I know there are some answers I could've done better. Since that was my first time interview in an individual setting, I was a bit nervous. Also (since I am throwing out excuses) they grab me right after my tour, so I was not mentally prepared 😛. I am wondering though, do you know if they have ranking with the interview? If they do, how are they ranked? (Base on how early you are interviewed or by numbers). If it is base on how early you are interviewed I think we have a shot at getting in if they need to add later on. But I do have to admit though, my interview yesterday was better than the interview at nevada. I have to thank largely in part of the experience with that interview because it made me aware of what I needed to improve on and what needed to be changed (I still hoped I had the Nevada interview later though). But then again for Nevada we are interviewing for 85 seats instead of the 100, so that might be the reason we got waitlisted. Well I hope you have other interviews and I can assure you that the nevada experience would help you greatly in other interviews. Hopefully we'll be lucky and get picked up by Touro-NV later 🙂 Good Luck!!!

The class size is 100 but 15 spots were filled via Early Decision... and don't worry so much!!

I am sorry you were wait listed too, it sucks, but at least I am not alone. I would also like to find out what my status is on the wait list. If we are placed according to our interview then we have an excellent shot, but I don't think it is that simple. Looking at previous threads I think they rate us low medium and high on the list according to our "potential". They may never tell us where we stand on the list, but I think it is too early to know anything. It really depends on the next people they interview and accept. From last years wait list I found out on a thread that they had over 80 people waiting by August and only gave early accept to 15.

I don't have a good feeling about my stance on the wait list, but I have to keep trying. Have to write letters, emails and anything else I think of.

-good luck to us both

And to anyone else reading this post... please don't hold onto acceptances. You have no idea how this ride through purgatory feels.

Hey guys...

I know it is a total bummer to get placed on a waitlist after interviewing at a school you totally grooved with, but hope is not lost... I, as well as several of my classmates, were waitlisters once upon a time and by the grace of God and a little luck I am now replying to you all from my lecture hall here at TUCOM-NV... Hang tough, be peristant and stay positive... I wasn't kidding when I told you guys that considering how early you all are scoring interviews you will get picked up somewhere...

anywho... our white coat ceremony was last weekend... here are some pics!!

Eric,

I am loving the comments you guys are making about TUCOM-NV! During the application process, I knew that the biggest selling point of a medical school would be the people associated with that med school. In retrospect, shouldn't that be at or near the top of every pre-med's list. Aren't we all doing this for other people? Aren't we all suppose to be people persons? hmmmm...where's my Kleenexs. 🙄 Anyway, everyday I feel more and more confident that I made the right decision in where to go. Thanks buddy. 👍 BTW, I see your a fan of Yoggisms! 😎 Update: Sox 2, Cards 0. It ain't over, till it's over (Is that a Yoggism? 😕 ). See you next year!

What up Dan,

not sure if its a Yoggiism but it works for me. i agree with you that it is the overall impression a person gets with a med school and the people associated with a med school that makes the difference. if i went to Southwestern or TCOM, but hated the people i was around and spending most my waking hours with, i would be a miserable soul. no way in hell would i be able to function to the best of my ability because i would be concentrating on my loathing of people to have enough energy for school. i greatly enjoy the company i keep for about 17 hours of every day (not all of that is study time  ) and i have all the confidence you will feel the same.
