Good luck guys! I think it is a day we will all remember for the rest of our lives. Just try to remember that you have done all you can at this point and there is NOTHING you can do to change it. Then look forward to enjoying the rest of 4th year 🙂

Is like waiting for Godot.

I'm going to go cray.

I always felt Waiting for Godot was one of my big misses.

Now seems to be the right time. I AM, being an IMG with a mediocre application, waiting for Godot.

Does that have a better addiction potential than benzos? I think I could use one of those.

Also, how does one go about ingesting a 250 g pill? Can I crush it and snort it? Dissolve it in said Jim Beam? Lol

Still got a mini heart attack despite the very clear "ERAS has no information regarding your match status and as such this communiqué does not imply anything whatsoever about your match status" at the beginning of the SOAP e-mail today.

come on, it's too early for that. When I get the march 8 e-mail, I'll probably still have palpitations even though a thousand resources say everyone gets that, my emotions will be very raw that close to black monday. Today I was just like meh whatever though.

Black Monday? oh I like that, it perfectly describes this terrible day

whats this march 8 email?

the week before match week your school verifies with NRMP that you are eligible to start residency on July 1, therefore making you eligible for SOAP, so on the Friday before match week everyone registered for the match gets an e-mail saying they are eligible for SOAP. This doesn't mean they are actually going to need to use SOAP, just that if they don't match they are eligible to participate.

When you really look at it, it's completely backwards.

Anyone registered for the NRMP should be initially eligible for SOAP.

After the ROL deadline, anyone not meeting the minimum criteria are removed. Mostly, this is IMG's who are not ECFMG eligible. Rarely, a US student has had a problem in medical school where they will no longer graduate on time. They should get an email stating that they are withdrawn.

Now, on March 8th, the only people who need to get an email are those in the group above. Either it says that due to changes in their status, they now are in SOAP, or that they can't participate in SOAP.

What happens if your school flakes on doing this? Are you pulled from the match in general? Or if you don't match you just can't SOAP?

Holy crap, you all try to find things to worry about that don't exist!

The NRMP is really good about getting this correct. Want to know why it takes 23 days from ranking to match day? This is why. They get it right. Every time.

I'm sure they have every school review their list, and ensure that everyone is still on track to graduate on time. There is nothing to worry about.

How do they verify with foreign schools? Through ECFMG?

On the nrmp website there is a status icon for ECFMG detailing whether you are ''VERIFIED''.

Verified clearly means you are eligible for the match and you are good to go.

If after the ROL deadline you hadnt been verified yet you would automatically have been withdrawn from the match.

What are you guys doing to stay busy? I want to make one of those count down chains made of construction paper, remember from kindergarten? I feel like i have nothing to obsess about, not even grades. booored
