Hi, first time poster here.

I took my Step 2 in early August but NBME is restructuring the exam which means that they won't release my score until September 26. I scored a 196 on my Step 1 and I fear that I will be screened out of a lot of the programs that I am applying to if they don't see my Step 2 score during the screening process.

Is it better to submit my application now or is it better to wait until September 26 once my Step 2 is back? I expect to do a lot better.

Thanks!

This topic has been discussed extensively in the ERAS section and the Step 2 section. The general consensus is that you should just apply now. Your Step 2ck score will show up whenever it becomes available, so if a program decides to take another look at their applicants on September 27, you'll get filtered back in (and nobody will realize that you were filtered out the first time). If the program doesn't decide to take another look on September 27, then delaying your application still wouldn't have helped.
