Is anyone else waiting on the UCSD adcom next Tuesday? It's going to be a long weekend --- so hard to relax and watch football when I'm so nervous about hearing from them. Anyone else?

Congrats on having two UC interviews! So far, I have been largely ignored by the other UC's. UCSD is my favorite, though, so I'm not disappointed. I really feel like I would fit there. I hope they feel that way too! Good luck to you! Thanks for responding!😀😀😀

Just had a killer thanksgiving dinner and here I am back on SDN. I don't want to let this thread die. TALK TO ME PEOPLE!!! That UCSD decision is one of the biggest of my life. I keep thinking about it. Tuesday seems so far away. If I get waitlisted (or acceptable pool, as they call it), I will be SO disappointed. I know there are other great schools...why is this one so important? I just love UCSD and always have, I guess. SDN is the only place where I can talk to people who share my same worries, fears, and excitement in this process. On the day my MCAT scores came out, I sat for about four hours commiserating with other people who were waiting for their score online while we refreshed constantly. I just don't have any friends who understand how gut-wrenching this whole thing is. It's so nice to be able to "talk" with people who understand.

Sorry to get so gushy.... must be the whole holiday turkey thing....🙄

Well, it's Saturday of the longest weekend of my life. Oh, Tuesday, will you never arrive? But if you bring an ill-fate, will you please stay as far away as possible? Anyone else getting nervous? Hmm?.... Anyone?....

I graduated from UCSD and definitely love San Diego so it would be very nice to hear back from them.

How do you learn when the committees are meeting?

They told us on our interview day that the committee would be meeting on Nov. 26th to review our files and that they should have a decision by noon on Tuesday, Nov. 27th (either accept or acceptable pool, which is a waitlist.)

It says on the website that we have a 54% chance of being accepted after interview. Anyone want to do the stats on our % chance for tomorrow? If you subtract the number of people pulled from the waitlist (50-90) from the total number of acceptances (280-340 out of 580 or so), this leaves approximately 200/230-250/290 out of 580 that will initially get an acceptance. That is about 40%, yes? I don't have a calculator, but I think that's about right.

Is it pretty clear that tomorrow cannot come too soon? Starting to go a little nutty here....

Oh yea....tomorrow....sorry. Good luck tomorrow. And yes, my analysis is nutty, but it is therapeutic. This has surely been the longest week of my life. You're right...100% or 0% tomorrow...unless we factor in the waitlist, which would then present a whole new set of numbers....let's see....50-90 out of 580....

Where else can we joke around and commiserate with fellow applicants about the most important decisions of our lives? Really, the decision about my admittance to UCSD isn't just a grade on an Orgo test or whether or not I should wear an overcoat to an interview. This decision is one of the most important of my life...right up there with marriage, children, etc. There are other terrific schools, I know...but the place you attend med school (and possible residency) will defiinitely impact the course of your life in many important ways.

That being said, you're probably right, ricosuave. And I love your name. It sounds like Antonia Banderas or something. hee hee

When I interviewed at UCSD, they told us that they would call us on a certain Tuesday and not the other way around. i think they mentioned that they'd give those accepted a call the same day the adcom makes their decisions. am i supposed to call them instead?

Brian Zeglen said the Dean would be making calls around 2-3 PM on that Tuesday, but it could be as late as the following day (Wednesday). He said we could call after noon on Tuesday if we were anxious (which I obviously am.) So it's up to you.
