Still waiting to hear on my away rotations!? Nerve wracking. Anyone else waiting? Expecting to hear from Emory any day now. Has any one else heard from them yet. I hear that do it by snail mail.

I am still waiting to hear from them also. I haven't heard about how they reply. I don't understand doing something online and getting a reply by mail. (Shrugs)

Setting up away rotations was one of the most frustrating parts of med school. My condolences and good luck!

Survivor DO

I'm waiting to hear too. This VSAS thing is for the birds. It's looking like most of the places I'm applying to won't let me know the status of my app until probably a month before I have to be there ... *rolls eyes

You're lucky... We had two med students show up the day of the rotation not knowing their status yet womp

Good luck Op!

Wow, this new way of scheduling rotations is totally nuts...doesn't make any sense...

Still have not heard from five program regarding away rotations that would start in four weeks! Is this normal?

I think it's the new norm. I figured out the ridiculousness of the process AFTER I applied to a few programs. When I realized the game I started emailing programs before I even thought about applying. Their response told me all I needed to know ...

i.e., if I got a "we cannot tell you anything right now, apply via VSAS and you'll hear from us in due time" -- I crossed that program off the list.

If I got a "I can't tell you if it's available, however, the program director does review all the applications and it's not first come first serve" or something to that effect, I decided it may be worth it to apply.

This whole process is silly. VSAS is a money-making machine, nothing more, nothing less. If I was more savvy I would have had my applications ready on the specific date at midnight that the schools started processing applications. But because I was ... you know, running around during ROTATIONS, I had other things to do. Oh well.

I would say that emailing/calling the schools is the only way to find out anything about the status of your application, so if you haven't done that I would recommend doing so.

Rotations start two weeks from today, and still waiting to hear from 9 programs! Is this normal?

I don't think that's normal. Did you follow up with any of them? At this point, if someone drops out last minute, you may get a spot. I THINK programs would have gotten back to you by now.

I know all the spots at my program for Aug and Sept have been filled as of last week (maybe even earlier).
