Waitlist update (sort of)

So I just talked to the admissions director at UIC where I am waitlisted at #3...she said they sent out emails, phone calls, snail mail notices about 2-3 weeks ago (???) telling the first years to register for their classes (right John?). Out of 66 people in the class, 50 or so registered. That leaves about 16 that havent registered (she said more like 10-12 havent registered). She told me that this week or next they are going to call those who havent registered to see if they are still attending the school. If any choose not to go, she said she was going to call me right away to notify me of the change. If 3 choose not to go, I am in...but I am skeptical....chances are most just forgot to register or were lazy and are going to say they just didnt get around to taking care of it. Any thoughts?

I went to SIU the last weekend in April for a first year get-together. I met some people there who were waffling between UIC/SIU. I did hear from one about a week ago and he had just decided to attend UIC. So you have those in the mix as well.

Kind of a hard question to answer...but which do you think is more popular UIC or SIU? I would say those who grew up around the metroland Chicago area probably prefer UIC and those who grew up in rural (mid/south IL) would choose SIU. Did you choose b/w UIC and SIU...if so was it recently that you did so? I wonder how many are actually in this situation and when they are going to make up their mind. I am also curious how many will actually come off of the waitlist in general (so far its been 3).

I was pretty surprised at how many in the Chicago area attend SIU simply because they have heard the usual about UIC. How the students hate the profs as much as the profs hate the students type of thing.
