I know there are separate threads on this issue...but for anyone out there currently on a waitlist...has anyone heard any news? I have been on NYUs waitlist since June 1 with no updates. I have seen last years threads on this issue, but am curious if anyone else out there is in my position!(HockeyDentist, I know your story).

I got in TEmple 2 weeks ago. What i did was keeping calling them and trying to insist my interest for that school. YOu should call them more often. Hang in there and don't hesitate to prepare for next cycle. I was ready for next cycle, but then... 🙂

Ive been on NYU's waitlist since February. Havent heard anything. I have tried to keep in touch, but it really seems as if I need to reapply.

what were your guys scores that got waitlisted?

August 26th. 😉

That TS will increase. I hope.

I'm not on a waiting list yet, but Case put my application on "hold" and is waiting for one more semester of grades to be shipped to them. I guess my gpa wasn't good enough to get a interview, but it was good enough to not get thrown away. 🙄

Hey Smitty, I would hate to burst your bubble but our class (2008) has been filled, and either way, in order to get into this year's class, you must attend the orientation (which we had 2 weeks ago). Right now we are already 2 weeks into school so I think it is highly unlikely that you will be accepted for this year's class. But do call them and ask if you have a deferred acceptance for next year's (2009) class.

Sorry!

Sorry Smitty! My bad!

Hong, no I didn't go in the afternoon! Didn't recover in time from a night of partying/drinking!

What are the conditions for getting a deferred acceptance? - Does the applicant start the whole process all over again through AADSAS? and is there a guaranteed spot for the following year to a deferred student?

deferred acceptance means that you are accepted, but you have to wait for the following year. So, in essence, you party for a year and then begin school with the next 1st year class.

I believe you get deferred acceptance if you have good enough scores to make it into their class but at that time, the class has been filled. You will not have to go through the process of reapplying and it is a guaranteed spot. However, this is only for Case and does not necessary apply to other dental schools.

Tufts gives deferred acceptances as well.
