Hi,

I was just on predents.com and noticed that some students have either been waitlisted or accepted already. How is this possible?
I don't want to mention any names, you can see it easily for yourself.
I'm hoping someone who was either waitlisted or accepted and is reading this can explain.
best,
dan

Admissions committees for international applicants don't seem to abide by the Dec 1st rule. Check out the international dental section on SDN.

Just to add though, such rule holds true only for internationl students applying through IDP.

For international studens that are applying to the regular DDS/DMD currculum, they still have to follow the Dec 1st rule.

some people wrote comments on predents that were accepted already for this cycle. from off top of my head i remember one of them saying that the were offered a spot from last cycle and were able to defer to this cycle.

Dan,

ASDOH sent me the "alternate" letter after my interview, then changed my AADSAS status to "waitlist". Anyone else who received this letter are also on the waitlist.

Also, everyone who interviews at USC is put on their "waitlist" until they begin accepting on 01 Dec. I received a letter from them about how they rank the applicants but will not tell you your ranking. Apparently, they treat all applicants like a waitlist and pull acceptances from there.

I don't know how other schools handle it. It seems that schools use the terms "waitlist" and "alternate" pretty liberally, so take it all with a grain of salt.

As far as people being accepted, the only possible way up till this point (besides international exceptions) would be that they were accepted last cycle and have deferred until this year.

Hope this helps.

That happened to me at a different school. Like the above poster said, I didn't put full confidence in it, however, I have noticed that a handful of people have been rejected post-interview from this particular school and I haven't... yet 😉.
