Is it possible while on a WL to start at a Carib school and if accepted off of the WL to go to the DO school? I know some students start at one school and will go to another if accepted off of a WL, so I was not sure if this is different or not going from accepted/attending a Carib school to being pulled off of a WL at a DO school. TYIA.

Also, we all know Carib is dangerous. I know. We know. Everyone knows. You don't have to tell me.

How long would you have been at the carib school? Like is it a January start date or a typical summer start?

No I don’t think you would be able to do this. By the time you would matriculate at a DO program you would be well into a second semester or at least through part of the first. I think this would change your classification from new student to a medical program to a returning student/transfer. Usually when you hear of someone being pulled off a waitlist and leaving their program they do so during orientation or before some kind early point in a semester.

Yes, but what if you don't get off the WL?

Thankful for your input @Goro.

As awful as an option the Caribbean is, I cannot visualize myself as anything but a physician, so it is a very well researched (albeit very dangerous) route to reaching my goal since I would have been unable to do so otherwise and the traditional way.

Why do you say that you would not be able to reach your goal the traditional way? Also what do you mean by that?

As in multiple application cycles at US MD/DO schools, multiple MCAT retakes, SMP completed, etc. Carib is definitely not my first option, but it is a risk I am willing to take. I just need to get into the door.

Normally I'd flat out say no to Caribbean, but since you've tried multiple cycles and are not swayed by the dangers, I think it makes sense. No way you'd consider podiatry? It's a much safer route
