If you are wait listed at a school and they accept you for the next academic year, can you hold your spot while re-applying to other schools for that same academic year?

Check with the school. Some schools force you to reapply to them next year If you want to apply to other schools too.

I'm not sure if it would be wise... You could probably get away with apply MD since they use a different application server...

Yes you can. You can elect to defer as a wait listed student, or simply wait and see if you get accepted or not. At this point, they wont know if you apply to anymore schools. It's fully doable, and has been done before.

At least at MSUCOM. But I assume the same system is in play at other Universities.
