Hello Everyone,

If I were to submit an abstract to a conference and it was submitted, would my registration fee be waived? The meeting has a free medical student membership but I am officially not enrolled at the moment in medical school at the moment and am ineligible for it. I'd like to submit and present, but I don't want to pay the couple hundred dollar registration fee because I am not a member. Thanks!

Depends on the conference. I've been to some that did this for speakers but not for poster presenters, and some that didn't waive anything. Some have scholarships that student presenters can apply for. I would email the conference organizers and ask

For residents, the abstract submissions and the poster presentations are typically a huge portion of the conference income resulting in almost every poster being accepted almost regardless. Maybe they will waive this for students but typically speaking, the fees aren’t waived.
