Wake Forest and curving

I read that Wake Forest grades on a curve, so I went to their website, and apparently, only 15% of the class can get Honors. While I'm not the type to worry too much about grades (not b/c I'm smart, I just don't care as much as some do), I think that any school that grades on a relative scale (i.e. curve) is bound to have much more competition within the class. Are there any WF students who can address this? Also, does anyone else know of any other schools that grade on a relative scale? The only other place I've found to do so is SLU.

Hey,

For Phase I, grading is on a scale.

100-94 = Honors
93-75 = Pass
74-70 = Low Pass
69 or below = Fail

They told us with this scale, it happens to be that about 15% of the class ends up w/ honors.

I can't tell you about the grading for Phase II, cause I'm not there yet. As far as competitiveness goes, there is absolutely none here. We all help each other study and we get along really well. If you have any other questions, let me know!

just a short addition to the above post about grades: it happens to work out that 15% get an honors but that is not the limit. If everyone got above a 94, the whole class would get honors. So there isn't a curve and there aren't any limitations.

wow, a 75-93 for a mere pass is an awfully wide range. They should consider a 'high pass' distinction.
