Anyone know anything about the Early Assurance Program at Wake Forest University? Is it really competitive? Does anyone know how many apply and how many are accepted? I'm really interested, but although I have the grades, I don't have much volunteer experience...

if you dont have much volunteer experience/rsch experience, then applying to medical school and getting in would be tough no matter if you follow EAP...

i dont have the stats for WFU per say... if none of your SDN buddies dont pull through, you could try calling the admissions office and asking... that doesnt hurt...

I'm starting volunteer work with the Boys and Girls Club, the ER, and Habitat for Humanity, but I just didn't do anything freshman year... Is research experience a big deal for Wake Forest?

i know somone who got into the eap at wake forest.

for the past few years only 4 ppl get in. out of all the ppl that apply. wake can take as many or as little as they want if the students are qualifed. you better be a great applicant if you want to apply. if you dont feel you are fully qualified to apply for regular med school applications, then this would be a longshot.

this persos i knew had everything a med school applicant wanted

Hey,

I was accepted last year at WF through their early assurance program. I never found out how competitive (stat wise) the program is, however, I did call the admission's office when I was applying and they said that they generally accept three or four candidates out of the 30-40 applicants. I know that two other people were accepted along with me, one from Emory and one from a school in NC. If you do decide to apply to wf via the eap, I think it is highly beneficial to get the application in as early as possible, as this shows you are really interested in the program. If you have any other questions let me know.

Um... this thread was dug up from 2003? Wow! Anyway, I interviewed at the same time as a guy applying for the EAP. He seemed a little nervous as it was his only interview... so perhaps do some mock interviews if this is your choice...
