I was wondering if anyone went to or considered Wake Forest for Premed/PostBac/Med school. We may be moving into the area and I'd like to hear your experiences.

Thanks!
Scout

Pros:
-Decent reputation.
-Good in the sciences departments.
-It's ACC territory.

Cons:
-Cost is not cheap.

Pro/Con:
-The area: you will either like it or will not like it. I personally like it. Peterock does not. 😀

Winston-Salem blows. 2 movie theatres, city of 280,000 people. Wake Forest is a highly conservative, mediocre, rich kid school. 👎
Not that you're biased or anything. :meanie:

Well, my high school was a feeder school for Wake Forest and it was roughly 10 mins down the road. We'd have field trips to the school at least 3 times a year. I know lots of people in the medical school as well. Just read their newspaper, there will be 4 articles bashing Kerry or supporting Bush - there is no liberal representatoin there.

Anyway, froggyboy, you don't want some of this.....

We-ellll, if it cannot be TX then I wouldn't mind NC. I can get banjo lessons from Fermi, basketball lore from you, and Sweet Tea can teach me about how BBQ is supposedly better in NC 🙂rolleyes: ).

Ah, I love an epiphany. This makes the argument of previous days so much more clear. 😉

Pete,

The thing is, I'm not worried about getting in/not getting in to Wake all that much. I would love to go there, but I would also love to go to the other schools I've applied to. I think overall, my chances are pretty damn good of getting in to a good school. No person on this forum is qualified to assess my chances or not, being that I haven't posted my AMCAS nor are any of these pre-meds on an adcom. I happen to like the Winston-Salem area (thus the main reason for wanting to go there), even if you don't. You seem to place a lot of importance on the fact that you live there and thus know so much more about it, but that is irrelavant. My likes and dislikes are totally different from yours. Fact is, you really are biased. And that reflected in your argument on the other thread. Doesn't make me naive.

So there is actually one school in the country that isn't totally liberal? How refreshing. The liberals have taken over the educational system as well as the media so it is absolutely incredible to hear that Wake is so conservative.

In my class I would say there is about an even split of conservatives and liberals. (I fall in the conservative crowd) To many liberals a diversity of opionions in an academic environment is considered to be overly conservative. If an institution isn't spewing socialistic nonsense then it is conservative.

This is just not the case at wake forest.

Wow. Now I REALLY want to go to Wake. At my ugrad institution, "diversity" means never questioning the authority or position of the academic liberal elite.
