Okay, so I am feeling left out since I did not apply to Yale, Harvard, JHU, Pitt, etc. But I did apply to Wake Forest and I want to discuss it. So here goes:

I interviewed there and absolutely loved it! I got waitlisted and would probably do many, many bad things to get off of the waitlist. The letter that they sent in the mail expressed the great need for expressing interest, so of course I composed a letter kissing their asses. I am trying to determine if I should send more letters and how often.

Anyone else have an opinion?

It just so happens that I am a member of the Admissions committee at Wake Forest. I was wondering if we could meet (privately) to discuss the status of your application.

PS: Just for clarity, what did you mean by the phrase "many, many bad things?"😉 😀 😉

Hey cocoabutter...

Glad you enjoyed your time at Wake! 🙂 I wouldn't worry too much about the waitlisting, since pretty much everybody I know of went through being waitlisted. You're on the right track writing a letter. You could call periodically to check on the status of your app, but I'm not sure if that helps at all. I think they actually keep tabs on your written correspondence.

I definitely recommend sending them a letter saying how much you liked the school. If you liked it enough that you would go there over any other school, I think sending a letter saying that you'll withdraw your applications from other schools if offered an acceptance is a very positive thing as well. Of course, if you don't feel that way, you should just say how much you like it and appreciate the opportunity to interview, etc. etc.

Good luck....lots of people move off the waitlist, but there might not be a ton of movement until May so be patient.

Are there anymore SDN'ers out there that are waitlisted at Wake Forest and would love to go?

Hi cocoabutter. In addition to your letter, you should have another person recommend you (a boss, someone who supervises your volunteer work, a mentor, a physician). One more letter will help. Also if you have any new grades on your transcripts, you should pay to have these sent to Wake. These are 2 basic things you could do to show your ever-increasing interest in their school. GOOD LUCK!

Is Wake Forest still interviewing? Does anyone know when they stop? Has anyone withdrawn? I have heard that they rarely reject applicants post-interview. Does anyone know if this is true?

Was supposed to interview yesterday, but I withdrew on Monday...

Indeed there are still interviews going on. I believe they will continue until sometime in April. I also am fairly certain that once you have been offered an interview you won't be rejected out-right. You'll either be offered a spot or put on the alternate list.

bump....any more news on Wake Forest?

I called Wake this morning to find that I was still in their interview pool, unfortunately they have scheduled their last interviews over the next 2 weeks and it looks like if we have not heard from Wake about an invite by now, its over....🙁

that stinks that you weren't offered an interview SolidGold. But one of your other schools will come through, i am sure.

so....Wake Forest is only interviewing for another two weeks?
that means that they will be offering their final acceptances and hopefully those people that do not plan on attending will withdraw and the waitlist can begin to move.

i think, judging from other posts and my personal interview, that they meet twice a month (about the 12th and 26th) and accept 10-15 students at each committee meeting. i also think that they re-evaluate those of us on the alternate list. the MS1 that hosted our lunch on my interview day said that she got off the waitlist in April....so maybe we don't have to wait until May or beyond (please!).

Thanks for the support cocoabutter. At least my application made it to the bitter end. I guess its better than getting rejected right away. We might end up as classmates if USF pulls through for the both of us.

Solid Gold - don't give up on Wake yet, if you're still really interested ... I know for a fact that they are interviewing for a couple more weeks.

If one of the people who has already been scheduled to interview withdraws at the last minute, you could be offered their interview slot. Of course, you'd have to be willing to travel to Winston-Salem on very short notice ... just let the admissions office know.

I got a last-minute invite to WFU 2 weeks ago, so it can happen. And I absolutely loved the school and the people there ... if offered a place in their class, I'd accept in a heartbeat if my top choice doesn't pan out.

Good luck!

I was there in December and I really liked it too. Like cocoabutter, from what I've heard and read, they do start taking people off of the Alternate list early. Does anyone know if they do that by phone or snail mail? 😀 Good luck to all! 🙂

Hey guys. Most of the movement will probably come in May. That's the time when you can only hold one acceptance at a time. I got in off the waitlist on May 14th, and it was in the form of a letter...a thin letter as a matter of fact. Kind of came out of the blue really.

good luck to all.
