Wake Forest's "interview pool"?????

So I called Wake Forest today to check on my status, and they told me that I am in the "interview pool," but the pool is not the top one and told me to call back in Jan Anybody know how many different pool are there in Wake Forest, and what's the rank? Thanks

I think the one you've indicated is the second tier. I think it's going to be hard for anyone here to give you much more information than that.

All we know for sure is that there are at least 2 pools. I was told I am in the "top" pool and was allowed to schedule an interview. Others have mentioned the "high" pool which is probably the same as the "top" pool. Some people have received an e-mail from Wake saying that they are in an interview pool, but it's not the pool from which they are currently inviting. It sounds like you are in this pool.

Maybe you should send them a letter explaining why you want to go there. They seem to respond well to people that express an interest in them.

I'm pretty sure there are 3 pools; 1st, 2nd, and 3rd tier. they tell 1st tier people they get interviews. they tell 2nd tier people that they are in the 2nd highest pool (conditional interview pool) and will be called if they get an interview. apparently, 3rd tier is the currently non-interview pool. 3rd tier gets told to call back after christmas. that's just what i can gather.

They screen before sending out the secondary. It will be sent by email and has a specific due date (3 weeks from when it was sent to you, if I remember correctly)

yo i called wake forest today..and the lady just said my file was complete and that they are interviewing and they will let you know by letter. she didn't tell what pool i was in. it seems they told everyone else on this thread except me. anybody else have this issue. let me kknow what u guys think or what i should do

They probably just haven't evaluated your file yet, so they don't have you in any interview pool yet.

If I had known about this, I would've called them at least a week earlier. But I have to admit, it is a clever way to eliminate some candidates.

I had to call to find out that I had an interview. You have to specifically ask if a decision has been made on your file.

When I called, I just asked the admissions office's staff member about the status of my application, and she told me what kind of 'pool' I am in.

I called today and they said that they were sending out interview invites alphabetically. Now that's a novel app sorting method. (Attention all Z names please proceed directly to the waitlist!! 😉 ) And that if I was invited for an interview it would be in alphabetical order, so sit tight.

I am not making this up. Anyone hear the same? Any alphabetically challenged applicants recieved an interview yet?

I was a little baffled myself. I got the impression that my file had not been reviewed, although this seems unlikely since I've been complete since August. Not a word about interview pools.

My bet is that I'm in a lower tier bin and they will re-review apps in each bin alphabetically.

When I interviewed at Wake several years back, I was under the impression that they had a 3 tier system. 1st - you were offered an interview when you called in to check on the status of your application. 2nd - you were considered as a possible interviewee & might even get called in at the last second to interview... one person in my group got called the day before. 3rd tier - rejection letter.

So as far as I know, they don't do it alphabetically, but things could have changed recently. My only advice is that if you're seriously considering Wake, let them know. They log your contacts -- certainly any letters of interest you write in, and potentially phone calls. Enthusiasm goes a long way at Wake.

So I just called wake forest about the status of my application and I, like many of you, am in an "interview pool" that's not the top interview pool. I found out, however, that they have a four tier system. The lady in admissions said that they still have a lot of applicants from their top interview pool that they have yet to interview and that they don't know if they'll make it out of that pool this year or not. *crossing my fingers they make it out of the first pool*

i'm glad schools are so good about changing interview dates. Due to final exams i changed some even for next week. I also rescheduled final exams. ugh coordination is so difficult at this time of year. And they thing we have time for Christmas shoppping too? 😕

I actually called a couple hours ago, as soon as i was done with my exam so there were a few more choices. And no I didn't take the 24th.

I recieved a call on December 3th inviting me for an interview. I only took the January 24th date because they wanted me to interview on Dec. 7th when I was already interviewing at UNC. It sucks that late January is the next available date. Sorry for stealing your day.

You didn't steal my day. I talked to them this morning, and was told there was cnacellation on the 24th of Jan. I didn't want it. So no worries.

They also said that this pool was not ranked, which to my ear sounded like they would invite whoever picked up the phone first. I gave them my cell number, and told them I would do my best to fly down immediately if I were invited.

Anybody know if people traditionally get invited out of this pool?

I was in that pool... got called at 8:50 am for a 10 o'clock interview a couple of months ago. I told them I could make it but not by then (driving from Raleigh, plus I had to go home and change). They were cool with that, and I made it before noon. Apparently, someone cancled by email the night before, and they didn't get it until the morning. I had told them before that I'd like to know at least a day in advance, but any way I can take it I will. Just want my foot in the door. As it is, now I'm on the waitlist, so more of the same.
