hello, everyone:
I am interested in applying for Post-Bacc. Program at Wake Forest University School of medicine and Tufts Program as well. I think that Wake Forest guarantees admissions to Post-Bacc. students following the year of completion. Does anyone know how competitive it is to apply for these two programs.? Is anyone currently in the program? Please share your thoughts and experiences. I am grateful to all.

I applied for this year and am waiting to hear back. I need to call the office this week. PM me...if you want.

cool, did you already submit your application? Do you know anyone in the previous year who have successfully completed the post-bac.? I will call them to find out soon. Thanks.

Gooddoc-
Would you mind posting where you found information on Wake Forest's Post Bacc. program? I looked on their website and couldnt find anything. I wasnt even aware that they had one...
thx - am

The Wake postbacc program is supposed to be for underrepresented minorities mainly, and there isn't a guarantee that you'll be accepted to med school if you complete the course. That being said, if you do well in the course and complete it, you will almost surely be accepted. It's caught some heat b/c the people who have completed it and made it into school are dropping out at an alarmingly high rate, and I believe that half of the students that started med school out of the program either dropped out or couldn't pass the boards so the administration is looking a bit harder at it's future.

We have a new dean of minority affairs and she's sort of in charge of the program. It used to be funded through the undergrad campus, but they no longer pay for it so you might want to ask them what the deal is.

I didn't know Wake funneled students from the postbacc program into the medical school. I was under the impression that the postbacc program was for people interested into getting into Wake's PhD programs. I work in a lab with a girl who is in the program now and that's the information she gave me. If that's not true please let me know wfu2005.

Also, do they only accept minorities?

the application form did not mention anything about whether or not you must be a URM, therefore, I assume that everyone is welcome to apply if Wake Forest is their interest. Anyway, thanks for the infor. It really helps. For those who are interested, go to this link : http://www-hl.syr.edu/hpap/LISTPB.HTM
