I’ve worked for Osco Pharmacy (supervalu) for 3 years and I’m a P1 student. I got a job offer as a certified pharmacy tech at Walmart, they are not hiring me as Student, and I’m wondering if I accept the offer how long it takes to change my status and how hard is that? Also, is it better to leave Osco or stay with them? I know its easier to get a job as a pharmacist at Walmart compared to Osco

It all depends on your DM and his budget for interns. I have worked for WalMart for quite a while and they treat their pharmacists nice. I was a tech for 3 years before they took me as an intern (in my P2 year) .With the market the way it is, Walmart has no problem filling spots and the incentive to have an intern has decreased a lot.

Five years ago, I was in the same boat. I couldn't become an intern officially until after I completed my P1 year, and that wasn't up to Walmart, it was up to the state I practiced in ("you're not an intern until you complete P1," according to the BOP). So, I'd advise checking with the BOP in your state. Also, it's easy to change your status......as long as you have a nice DM who agrees to give you your pay raise 🙂
