Currently a rxm at a high volume Walgreens with about 10 years experiences. Relocating and looking for a change, considering Walmart or Costco. Any advice, please chime in. Thanks in advance..

Costco or Sam's club is considered the goldmine of retail pharmacy. Virtually impossible to get the job because of how desireable it its. Walmart is twice as good as Wags when it comes to treatment of pharmacist. There are no non-pharmacist or high school grad store manager and assistant manager butting in your business. Walmart's DM is a pharmacist!!

In my Walmart market 5 out of the other 9 current pharmacy managers have had a shorter tenure than I've had (< 5 years) so if you have the balls to ask the MHWD about turnover it's something to consider. Why is there turnover?

Walmart has a ****-ton of metrics too (maybe not compared to Walgreens but similar to CVS) and I get hounded about them more than I did at CVS, especially adherence metrics. However I do appreciate Walmart's opioid stewardship initiatives as it is a lot more work but we are now provided with a lot more support to deny questionable opioid scripts. I have commented on that in this thread

And of course annual bonus. You can clear 10k pretty easily just from the pharmacy-only component if you have a good customer service rating and meet script goals. And you get a 50 cent raise every year (I wouldn't count on ever getting a $1.50 or $2.50 raise) as opposed to NO raise anymore.

There is more to say about workflow (I do not like it) and software (I do not like it) but those are more mechanical issues.

Suburban area with non-ghetto population, I would consider it. Ghetto Walmart, stay away. Stay away.

What are you talking about @ Walmart. Next market over DM is not a pharmacist. Walmart is easier than WAG though.

Costco is Gucci tier.

The DM I had at Wal-Mart was not an RPh
