I’m looking into elite MD schools only on the east and west coast with favorable DEI policies to increase my chances. I feel pretty good about them honestly.

Could you give me the breakdown of your GPAs and your major? If you submitted your application, what's your school list, and which schools did they recommend if you're guaranteed for a seat in regular decision?

How did you do on Casper?

What feedback did you get from your admit.org profile? Are you using CycleTracker? What's your LM?

If GT prehealth did their job, they should also have presented alternative professional careers to you. So why not podiatry or PA? Also, why "elite" schools?

Can you explain why you aren't attending an elite undergraduate institution? I don't mean to sound disparaging to Georgia Tech, but it's still not Emory or Duke. 🙂

Let’s see. Overall GPA is 2.8, and 2.9 for science. I didn’t do anything on Casper since there are plenty of schools that don’t require it. My LM is low but it doesn’t factor in race. CycleTracker is confusing and I don’t see the point. I’m not interested in alternative professional careers because I want to be a doctor, not a PA or a podiatrist. And as far as not being in an elite undergrad school, finances are an issue for me (disadvantaged background)… Not everyone can afford Emory or Duke tuition…

How do you feel your race will factor since for admissions it is forbidden to consider it? Why should any school want you as a student?

Do you feel Georgia Tech is proud that you are one of their students that they would endorse you for medical school?

What are your application strengths? What is your mission fit, given most elite schools train research oriented future physician leaders, including PAs BTW? What is your expertise working with diverse populations unlike your own?

How do you handle criticism? Have your received any scholarships like the ones we post in the URIM forum?

“Holistic” admissions is code for saying that race is very much considered, whether or not it’s considered forbidden. Had no problem getting LORs. I have to say I’m a little confused about your question about “working with diverse populations unlike your own”, since (1) I’m URM and studies have shown that racial minorities get better medical care from other racial minorities and (2) people graduating from medical school don’t have expertise working with any population at all (that’s what residency and career development is for?).

Looks like the anesthesiology resident has some disparaging opinions about Caribbean schools. Wonder what he thinks about DOs.

It’s not clear what any of the WAMC posts are for, honestly.
