First time applicant (current junior) for the upcoming 2019/2020 application cycle. My main concern is my MCAT score, considering I am a California resident and Asian female, 512 (126 on CARS) is on the lower end of matriculants stats. GPA solid 3.9 both science and non-science.
-Very strong in research, with 2 pending publications (one 5th author, and one 3rd author), and 2 first author poster presentation at a professional conference. Possible poster presentation at NIH and first author review article as well (not sure yet though).
-Extracurriculars are pretty solid, with good amount of hours in clinical volunteering, non-clinical volunteering, and teaching assistant. Have some extra stuff with playing violin.
-LORs should be pretty solid as well, all professors admitted that they knew me pretty well to not even needing to read my PS. Just missing my non-science right now and working to obtain that soon.
-decent personal statement (not out of your mind good, but just has a good reason to enter medicine)
My goal is to get into one of the UCs (UCLA ultimate dream school), but not sure how badly my MCAT could hurt me. What are my chances with any one of the UCs? How about upper middle tier out of states like Mt Sinai, BU, University of Pittsburg, Tufts, etc.?
What tier/some schools that are realistic for me to get in? Do I need to apply DO?
