Here are some facts about me:

  • ORM, Georgia Resident, 2 gap years
  • 3.94 cGPA, 3.91 sGPA, 3 MCATs (496 -> 501 -> 504)
  • MCAT (8/20/22): 123/124/125/124
  • MCAT (1/13/24): 125/122/126/128
  • MCAT (8/02/24): 128/120/127/129
  • 1200 hours of clinical (EMT, Hospital Volunteer)
  • 45 hours non-clinical (volunteering at a homeless shelter, Red Cross). I did not include the 6 years of volunteering I did at my mosque's free clinic b/c I played a minor role and saved that experience for secondaries. It would be approximately 280 hours of service.
  • 350 hours of research (across two labs, actively involved in one (might be included on a pub, but not guaranteed)
  • 90 hours of paid employment (not clinical)
  • 94 hours of shadowing (neurosurgery, plastic surgery)
  • Awards: Most Improved Researcher (given by my school)
  • A misdemeanor conviction for speeding ticket (my state considers tickets as misdemeanors)
Schools I have applied to: Charles R Drew, ETSU SOM, Howard, Indiana, MCW, Meharry, Mercer, Morehouse, Louisville, Missouri-Columbia, Wright State

Rejected from: ETSU (No 2*), Meharry (Post 2*), Missouri (No 2*)

I have applied DO as well and have been accepted to a school, but just wanted to shoot my shot for MDs.

Charles Drew, Meharry and Howard mainly admit applicants from the African American community and ETSU, Indiana, Louisville, Missouri and Wright State admit very few (if any) non residents with your stats and no connection to the state. You could add these schools this week:
Medical College Georgia
Belmont
TCU
Oakland Beaumont
Wayne State
Albany
Eastern Virginia

Thank you for your help @Faha. Do you think my 120 CARS score will be a major concern for adcoms? CARS has been one of those sections where I have declined 2 points each attempt. I hope I don't get screened out.
