GPA: 3.97
MCAT: 521 (132, 130, 129, 130)
Oregon resident
Middle-eastern (Assuming this is just considered white in medical schools' eyes)
Attended OSU for 3 years from 2019-2022
Clinical experience
-Medical scribe: ~1450 clinical hours over a year
-Clinical research coordinator working with AML patients: ~1800 clinical hours over a year
Research experience
-Clinical research coordinator (same experience as above): To be honest I'm sure how medical schools view this experience in relation to research if anyone has insight on this.
-Research assistant (non-wet lab) in undergrad: ~100 hours, working with NIH dataset exploring intersectionality between race and disability and cancer diagnosis; Wrote a manuscript (has not yet been published) on it
Shadowing:
-50 hours
Non-clinical volunteering
-Nonprofit social services organization (primarily serving meals, handing out clothes, preparing kits and meals): ~200 hours from 2021-2024
Leadership/teaching
Tutoring: ~150 hours
Learning assistant: ~80 hours
Lab assistant: ~50 hours
Honors/Awards:
-Dean's list
-Freshman Chemistry Achievement Award (Highest performing student in general chemistry sequence)
School list so far (this has definitely been more overwhelming then I anticipated, I feel like I'm just arbitrarily choosing between schools at this point, trying to cut this down to 20ish also would appreciate any insight on schools I may be missing/should consider):
OHSU (in-state)
UCLA (reach)
UCSF (Feels like my biggest reach)
Emory (reach)
UA Phoenix (I think reach..)
Mount Sinai (reach)
Dartmouth (Maybe reach?)
Rochester (Maybe reach?)
UCSD (I know the OOS odds aren't in my favor here I just like the location a lot...)
Cincinnati
Colorado
U of Pittsburgh
Ohio state
U of IOWA
SKMC
Eastern Virginia
Western Michigan
Rosalind Franklin
St. Louis
U of Illinois
Wake Forest
Drexel
Geisinger
Loyola
Penn State
Oakland U
Albany
Tulane
Virginia Commonwealth
MCW
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! I feel like my application strength is clearly more on clinical hours and not on research, so I'm trying to keep that in mind without necessarily excluding myself from all of the research heavy schools since all the top schools will be that.
