OOS MD schools interview few Texas applicants with your stats since they know from years of experience that Texas applicants will attend a Texas school. You could try TCU and Tulane. Can you afford the non resident tuition at Michigan State ? For OOS DO schools I suggest these:
WESTERN
TUCOM-CA
KCU-COM
ATSU-KCOM
OSU-COM
CUSOM
DMU-COM
PCOM
NYITCOM
Touro-NY
ACOM

Makes sense. Should I stick to the AMCAS schools I have then and maybe lean more into DO with some of your suggestions? Tuition and application costs is not a major concern rn! I will mention that MD is my overall goal and am really hoping for a Texas school to take me.

Your OOS MD school list is not realistic. Howard and Meharry mainly admit applicants from the African American community. Illinois and U Wisconsin are state public schools that admit few non residents with a MCAT of 506 and no connection to the state.

Thank you for the clarification. Are there schools I'm missing that I have a realistic chance with as a Texas Resident?

I don't see how you are able to change your "odds" as you have not shown a strong mission fit that would be compelling. Your metrics also do not help you for MD programs.

I also mention that VCOM considers Texas applicants as a "preferred" applicant population. (We've posted this on the forums.)

I will mention that the central theme of my application revolves heavily around underserved communities and health in rural areas. I live right by the border of Mexico and have lots of stories/experiences with the Spanish-speaking immigrant community that I strongly believe ties my application together. Yes, considering my metrics and Texas resident status, I know I'm not a strong applicant. Just want to try my luck at OOS friendly medical schools while I pray for Texas schools. Are you saying the MD schools are a no-go entirely?

If that is your theme, it would be very challenging for the MD schools on your list especially since you have options with rural communities with DO schools. Howard, Beaumont in Detroit, and the Wisconsin schools in particular look more like donations. I would consider Arizona Phoenix, but your metrics may still be too low. Burrell NM and the Arizona schools... I'd look at them
