Hello I am 24, graduated 2023 from Emory
I currently live in ATL but have family in NY and FL (I grew up in rural FL)
ORM, decent story but don't think I have an X factor, more of "grit."

MCAT came back today at 510: 126/128/128/128, FL averages were higher substantially and I think my anxiety got to me
cGPA was 3.9, so science isnt that far off (3.8 maybe)

heres my activity list

2 research projects ended up being posters (2nd author and 3rd author)
1 became a publication (3rd author)

I am trying to mainly go to the East coast schools (DC/PA/NY/GA/FL), dream is GUSOM/GW/TEMPLE/EMORY (this ones a long shot I know)
6 LORs, 2 are from physicians with GUSOM connections.

Heres my list so far (I have not changed it since getting my MCAT score this morning, I know I have a lot of reach schools in the list, and I am looking to add/apply to ~30 schools) need some ideas, I don't think I will apply for DO.

Should I retake the MCAT? If so, when is the best time?

Details will be critical with your non-clinical community service (community volunteer... could be anything). If it's not under the umbrella for service orientation, I presume your hunger relief work would be applicable. You should have 150 hours by submission to avoid getting screened out at most schools, so you aren't far off.

Sorry, will clarify

Community Volunteer was serving food/packagingfood/donating clothes/helping with free flu vacc events. the foodcommune/hunger relief was saving food and doing freeganism to help the underserved in East ATL.

Howard and Meharry are not on Faha's list. They are HBCU schools, so unless you come from a low SES environment similar to URM's, it's not a great fit. Again, cross-check with Faha's list.
my mistake, took them off, was SES but ORM. With a 510 and the given activities/info, realistically if I write a LOI, whats the chances for UF/GUSOM?

also he recommended mercer, but my legal residence is set in FL and mercer only takes GA residents...

Had 510 MCAT as an OOS ORM and was accepted to GUSOM this cycle (+2 interviews from two other Jesuit institutions). DM me if you have any questions!
