Welcome to the forums.

TCU, Toledo, Western Michigan, EVMS, and Ohio State seem random. Is there a mission fit?

Clinical hours seem light compared to many other applicants. Non-clinical volunteering seems okay, though you have a bunch of 50-hour activities. I don't know if it's enough commitment to show Rush and the Jesuit medical schools.

Toledo, Ohio State and USF Morsani admit few non residents with a MCAT of 512 and no connection to the state. Your clinical hours are far too low for Rush and St. Louis. Einstein will be very competitive this year because of free tuition. You could add these schools:
Cooper Rowan
Vermont
Jefferson
George Washington
Virginia Commonwealth
Belmont
Medical College Wisconsin

OP: When you say "humanistic side of medicine," exactly what do you mean? How should this be manifest in the activities at your preferred schools/programs? It's not obvious since you don't list any details/activities that could demonstrate this.

Hi! Thank you sm for getting back to me! I understand. a bunch of my 50 hour activities were directly related to Spanish for Health Professions program that I am in. A large part of my application is that volunteering/spending significant time within the community (using spanish in the community/community projects) has given me an interest in community health in reducing socioeconomic barriers and making meaningful connections with patients.

TCU mission seems to fit that. I interviewed for the medstart program at Toledo last semester, but was not accepted but am wanted to reapply b/c my grandfather lived in Toledo. I was interested in the CareForward curriculum in EVMS

Thank you for this feedback! Does Rush/St Louis have a cutoff for the number of Clinical hours?
These schools look great! For some reason, I could not find information on MCAT/ # OOS students on MSAR for Belmont so I wasn't sure.
Also, do you believe my school list may be having too many low yield schools?

TCU is a mission fit as their motto is “Empathetic Scholars.” They’re the only Texas MD school that doesn’t limit the number of OOS students in their class.
Thank you! I was also considering applying to some schools in TMDAS although I understand that they are out of state unfriendly because the tuition is low, and I have family in Texas so I am willing to settle down and practice there as well. I am also very interested in using healthcare Spanish and serving hispanic communities. Would you recommend that I apply to TMDAS and if so, if there are certain schools that I may want to avoid?

Hi! A large part of my application is that volunteering/spending significant time within the community through volunteering in the spanich for health professions program, my project at a local church, and in general I am also part of a program (bonner) that studies and does local outreach to the community. This has given me an interest in community health in reducing socioeconomic barriers and making meaningful connections with patients.

I’m not sure it’s worth doing the TMDSAS application, you will have your hands full with your AMCAS essays.

Your school list is otherwise fine. Rush and Loyola are looking for applicants with many hundreds or thousands of hours of clinical exposure.
