Recently trimmed my school list down to 30 and prioritized places where I see myself living. I'd like to emphasize caring for vulnerable populations in urban areas, and much of my activities have reflected this. Any advice would be appreciated.

Please break down your 1000+ hours of non-clinical volunteering. When did this all occur?
From 2024 to the beginning of this year, I worked with two organizations located in the same city as my university:
- I was a board member for the first; it was focused on screening and arranging social services (food assistance, insurance, transportation) for people with chronic diseases. I have ~600 hours here.
- For the second, I volunteered at a shelter for unhoused families. I met with the residents to help them apply for work/navigate registration for those reentering higher education. I also held a weekly enrichment session for the kids where we worked on science/art projects. I have ~350 hours here.

My gap year volunteering will be as an advocate for survivors of domestic/sexual violence in the emergency department. I can't tell you more as I've just started, but this is where my projected hours are.
