Areas of Concern: I'm concerned that my GPA isn't competitive enough. I know that some of the schools that I chose are GPA heavy and have cut offs, so I just wanted to get advice on which schools I should take off my list and which I should add. Last cycle, I was interviewed for both Auburn and UF, and I was waitlisted for Auburn and rejected from UF after. I did a file review for UF and the advisor told me that with the GPA I have now, I should be reviewed again this cycle. I wasn't able to apply to my in-state, UGA, because my GRE scores didn't come in on time. Any advice would be so helpful!

Your gpa's look for fine for UGA. What is your GRE score?

I got a 308!
What is the breakdown? You should have a quantitative score (math) and an English/reading score that add up to 308. The vet schools that still use the GRE prioritize quant score highly, moreso than combined scores.

Unlike some schools, UGA does not state that it only looks at Quant. According to the AAVMC site, the average gpa is 3.7, science gpa is 3.6 and GRE Verbal 155, and GRE Quant 155. Keep in mind these are stats for both IS and OOS. UGA used to post separate admission stats on their website, but haven't done so for several years now. My guess is that a 308 is reasonably competitive.

Your experiences are nicely varied. GPA's are good. You have research experience. Focus on your personal statement and supplemental essays and make sure that LOR's are strong. Just my opinion, but since you have several options for the LOR's I'm not sure I'd use the one who is not yet a professor.

Best of luck to you! UGA is a great school and by far the most affordable option for you.

156 (72%)/ 152 (43%)/ 3.5 (37%)
If I remember correctly, I think UGA is the only school on my list that still requires the GRE.
