Hello there!

Incoming applicant for this upcoming cycle seeking expert advice here on SDN. I am a California resident (Riverside), and would definitely like to stay in California if possible (gotta dream a little right lol).

ORM; CA Resident; Graduated from undergrad several years ago.

AMCAS cGPA: 3.80
AMCAS sGPA: 3.75
MCAT: 517

Basic Research:
  1. 3 years in immunology lab, (1) 5th author pub. This one is already published
  2. 3.5 years in neuroscience lab, (2) 2nd author pubs, many posters/abstracts. One has been submitted with revisions, the other was recently submitted for the first time.
  3. 6 months in another neuroscience lab thus far (will 1.5 years by matriculation/doing this over app cycle year)
Clinical Research:
  1. 1.5 years so far (doing this over app cycle, will be 2.5 years by matriculation) 1st author pub. Will submit case report by July.
Clinical Volunteering:
  1. 800 hours thus far (doing this over app cycle, will be 1450 by matriculation). VA Hospital, very very cool experience.
Normal Volunteering:
  1. 1500 hours since high school with local church org (think soup kitchen gigs, humanitarian stuff like feeding homeless).
Shadowing:
  1. gastro/nsg/pm&r = 120 hours (200ish by matriculation/will continue over gap year)
ECs:
  1. News Editor/senior staff writer for college newspaper (local investigative journalism, interviewed some pretty cool people like homeless vets, Presidential Election (2016) nominees, congressman, etc.).
  2. Weightlifting
  3. Competitive online chess
As mentioned above, would definitely love to stay in California. Here is a tentative list to get started, the * is a school I'm uncertain if I am competitive for/if I should include:

Reach:
  1. UCSD
  2. UCLA
  3. UCSF
  4. UCI
  5. Cornell
  6. Columbia*
  7. UPitt*
  8. Duke*
  9. Michigan
Target:

Schools I am considering/interested in?

Thank you @Faha and @Walter Raleigh for your suggestions and advice! @Goro , would you suggest that I add/remove any schools? Or do you all think that it would be best for me to apply to the above 30 schools? Thank you again for the help!
