Hey guys I was wondering if you had any insight on my school list. I already posted on reddit but didn't get much feedback so I thought I would have better luck here.
I currently go to school in Canada. I am in my 3rd year of university currently however I am in my first year of a professional program. This means that I will technically not have a degree by my time of matriculation despite having finished four years of uni and I have kept this in mind while making my (limited) school list.
I applied to Canadian schools this year and got rejected everywhere so the plan is to reapply in Canada and the US.
Academics:
GPA is currently a 3.9 and might slightly go up this semester but nothing certain.
MCAT is 522: 132/129/130/131
Research:
I did some minimal research as a volunteer in a non-medically related lab for 30ish hours before the pandemic hit and everything got cancelled. I've been trying to find another research position but have had no luck.
Clinical Experience:
I've done some shadowing in a few different medical specialties in europe over the summer (60h)
I also volunteered at my local hospital for 100h.
I've worked at two different pharmacies for around 1500h at least by the time of application. A third of those hours was in a clinical role and another third was as a volunteer.
Non-clinical Volunteering:
I've done a good amount of tutoring for people in my program for 2 years as well (100+ hours)
Extracurriculars:
VP of two university clubs, one for my program's student association (~60h) and another one for raising money for a medical condition (~50h and ongoing).
I also played in a band for around a year with a bunch of performances (100h) and I've been in my city's orchestra for the past 4 years with a good amount of hours and a scholarship as well.
I am also going to be writing a book along with a professor about clinical pharmacy over the summer but that hasn't started yet.
My school list includes:
Yale
Tulane
Emory
University of Maryland
Medical College of Wisconsin
St Louis University
Washington University
Cornell
Virginia
West Virginia
MSUCOM
Does anyone have any schools to add or remove from this list or any other comments?
