Hey guys and gals. Re-applicant from last year, applied late (October) and didn't get any interviews. This year I applied to AACOMAS literally as soon as one could and secondaries were rewritten and submitted promptly. I'm a NY state resident.

3.18 uGPA 3.3 sGPA (upward trend)/gGPA 3.5/ MCAT 30 (9/10/11)

ECs: shadowed a primary care DO for 2 years
volunteered in hospital twice (surgery and infectious disease)
two years medical mission in NYC
president of Philosophy club (3 years)
vice president of College Democrats (2 years)
intern for congresswoman, local housing court judge (during gap year)
College Rugby
TA and tutor for multiple years, multiple classes

research in grad school (SUNY Buffalo SOM), with two publications and thesis
TA for UB Medical school neuroanatomy class
did well in Medical School coursework in grad school (Histo, biochem, neuroanatomy)
currently work for local health department in lead poisoning prevention

Sent secondaries to:

NYIT
RVUCOM
CCOM & AZCOM
UNECOM
MUCOM
PCOM & PCOM GA

Sent primary's to:

Touro-NY
CUCOM
ACOM

Have a DO letter, my PI from Grad School, and prof from undergrad. They are pretty good, except my PI (messy genius, foreign) put MD instead of DO a few times.

Open to sending a few more primary apps out.

Just curious, what did you apply with last cycle and couldn't get in anywhere?

Last cycle I applied to

LECOM E and B
UNECOM
CCOM
PCOM
RVU
PNWCOM

When I talked to admins at the schools after I was not offered II they didn't mention any specific weaknesses other than applying late. Obviously low GPA and reapplicant are red flags.

No shot at SUNY Buffalo SOM after the Masters? You picked a lot of schools with regional bias, but you look fine with all except maybe RVU and PNW.

I think you should be fine for any DO school.

After working in the Path and Anatomy department I didn't want to continue at UB SOM. Not dissing UB SOM, but after interacting with the students and faculty for 2 years I didn't think I would be a good fit.

Just sent primaries to ACOM and CUSOM. I'll look into ATSU-KCOM and LMU-COM. I'd prefer to stay away from LECOM.

Thanks Goro. Since I got my first round of secondaries out I've had the waiting mode jitters and hearing that from you (I lurk your posts frequently) means a lot.
