Hey everyone! So I am just wanting to add some schools to my list for right now (maybe just 1-2). Does anyone know any DO schools that are OOS friendly and take lower stats?

I applied to KCUCOM, NYITCOM Jonesboro, Burrell COM, UNECOM, VCOM Louisiana, UIWCOM, Lake Erie COM (Braedenton), Alabama COM, Idaho COM, LMUCOM, and Noorda. I did apply to Touro and NovaCOM, but realized my LORs don’t fit what they want so I’m not going to go through with applying there. My MCAT is a 501, sgpa 3.5, cGPA 3.4. A lot of experience working in underserved rural communities and global medicine. Nontraditional student, been out of undergrad for 3+ years. I'm looking to add 1-2 schools that are OOS friendly (I'm from TX). I'm thinking of PCOM (Philadelphia)... any other suggestions?

Try the other VCOM campuses and PCOM GA. West Virginia, KYCOM and WCU would be worthwhile adds too.

UNECOM is not OOS friendly. It is pretty regionally focused for the Northeast area. I do not recommend Burrell due to multiple issues with the school (including attrition). The schools I mentioned are all safer choices than ICOM or Noorda too.

Did you apply to SHSU in Texas, or did you figure it wasn't worth completing the TMDSAS application just for that school?
If you applied on TMDSAS you could add the MD schools UTRGV and U of Houston Fertitta which may consider you with your stats and experiences.

I did apply to SHSU! And UH. Both are already submitted. I only recently received the secondary for UTRGV! I will complete it asap. I’m just wondering about OOS DO schools. Thank you for the response! 🙂

Unlike the MD schools, OOS DO schools don't seem to have any particular bias against Texans. Maybe that was your question?
