  1. Pre-Veterinary
Hi everyone! I wanted to see if I could gather any insight from purely my stats. I've been offered an interview at one place so far, but have not heard back from anywhere else (which makes sense, haha). I am from Maryland, but go to school in Tennessee and am graduating in December! I have special interests in theriogenology and public health. I'd love to eventually end up at a mixed animal practice!

GPA
GPA: 3.67
Science 3.64
Last 45: 3.6

Scholarships:
awarded $7,500 per semester for undergraduate

Hours:
Small animal: 3000+, combined shelter medicine in MD, private practice in MD, oncology department at my school's veterinary hospital
Large animal: 3500+, private practice in KY, racetrack medicine in MD, reproductive hospital in FL, large animal hospital in TN
Research: 200+, researching IVP methods using bovine ovaries

LORS:
DVM I worked with in MD, works VERY closely with me, and wrote a thorough and personable LOR
DVM I worked with in Ocala, FL
DVM I worked with in Ocala, FL --> also known to be a very authentic essay
Undergraduate advisor
Research Doctor I work w/ on the IVP project

Extracurriculars
Served on my sorority's executive board for three consecutive years as Panhellenic Delegate, VP DEI, and homecoming captain
Mental Wellness chair for our Pre-Vet Association
Member of Sigma Gamma Delta
Worked as a math tutor in our library for 2 years

Current employment
Biochemistry tutor
Peer mentor for our intro to ANSC course (which I also did fall of 2023)

I applied to VMCM, SGU, LMU, Iowa State, UPenn, Tufts, UC Davis, UF, Auburn, NC State, UTK, Ohio State, Oregon State, Royal Vet College, LSU, Kansas State (16 total), and I would truly be happy ANYWHERE. I'd love to attend VMCM so I am closer to home (and IS tuition is always a blessing). I have not heard much about VMVM on these threads, so if anyone has any insight, that would be lovely. I'd also love some thoughts on my chances at OOS schools. I am just thrilled to get this process going! Best of luck to everyone applying this cycle. We got this!

out of stater at UTCVM, happy to answer any questions you may have! I'm loving it here so far 😀
i think you have a good chance to score an interview invite. our mean GPA for c/o 2029 was a 3.8. i also applied to a lot of the schools you applied to; you can take a peek at my stats if you wanted to compare.

curious why dual degree programs? what are your public health goals?

During my time working with a racetrack vet in MD, I got the opportunity to spend some time with the MD state veterinarian. I also worked with a USDA-accredited vet who worked on the MD board - I was really interested in their jobs and just how few USDA vets there are working in small animal practices. I am not pursuing a dual degree, but I simply have an interest in public health!

sorry my phone is ready to die any day now and i just refuse to accept it haha. i mean “why no dual degrees?”

i only ask because many schools you applied to have MPH/DVM programs integrated in their curriculum and while CSU is 5 years, I know VMCVM is still 4 years, you just start the MPH in the summer before vet school
