I posted a few months ago about my situation and got some really good advice, and I'm back now with an MCAT score.
Male, URM (African American)
3.55 cGPA, 3.50 sGPA
Humanities Major
MCAT : 36 (10VR/12PS/14BS)
2 Years Undergrad research (3 semesters, 2 summers - Local poster, local presentation, mid author abst)
2 Years post-bacc research as a technician (Full time, no pubs)
50 Hours EMT 3rd rider
10 Hours ER obs
10 Hours Shadowing
(This is all going to be majorly bumped up, I've put it off for too long but I'll get it done)
Leadership position at my summer aquatics job
Volunteering in a local underserved preschool
Head tutor for a bio course, in a program focused on underrepresented groups in the health sciences
After school tutor in my community
My concerns -
Non-science major, with a lack of upper level coursework to prove it!
GPA is obviously on the low side
I haven't put together a full school list yet, but I'm having trouble figuring out where I stand in general. I'll certainly be applying broadly, but past that I can't tell? Should I be focusing heavily on non-MSTP? Do I stand a shot at say MSTP 11-20? In general I'm willing to go anywhere, but for family/relationship reasons NYC or California would be absolutely ideal.
Thanks for any input
