Looking to get some early prep for applying next cycle

517 MCAT
3.96 cGPA
~500 hours as an MA, ~150 as a scribe, 250 hospital volunteering, 200 non-clinical volunteering
1000 hours of Research for 4 years, 1 publication
3 service clubs for 2 years, 1 leadership position
CA resident

Stayed away from most stat ****** and low yield. Should I reconsider?

USC
UCI
UC Davis
U Mich
Emory
Case (and cleveland clinic)

It's a fine list. Nothing wrong with aiming high. Baylor will be a long long shot.

Add U VM, BU, Vandy, maybe U AZ, U Miami

Thanks Goro! Jw, what would Baylor a long shot for me? Also for Vanderbilt is it a concern that my MCAT is between 10 and 25 percentile on the lower end?

Baylor is along shot because so few OOSers get int there. Vandy is in striking distance. You can swap out for Tulane or Wake instead. Tufts if you're dying to go to Boston.

Thank you! Last question - what are you thoughts on low yield schools (like those on WedgeDawg's list) ? Should I avoid applying to them all together or just be keeping them to a minimum?

Keep them to a minimum and the Keck, class schools will serve as safeties, along with the UCs
