Hi! I’m a nontraditional applicant who is on my 2nd gap year, planning to apply next cycle. My goal is to primarily apply MD. I started my undergraduate studies with the intention of pursuing a pre-med career, but struggled with my STEM courses. Around the latter half of my sophomore year, I explored other career options. After gaining experience in other fields, I eventually found myself drawn back to medicine because I couldn't see myself doing anything else. The damage was already done to my science GPA, so it has been challenging to improve, even with my postbacc, where I got a 3.5 sGPA while working a full-time job.
I listed my stats and experience below. Any constructive feedback and advice is appreciated! Especially any advice on how to become a stronger applicant 🙂
