Would appreciate some input on my chances, along with a list of schools that may accept me. So far I have simply a long list of DO schools, and low tier MD. I’ll be applying when applications open this summer. Thank you for the help.

GPA at main undergrad school: 3.0 (this includes a D and F which really pulls me down, but both classes were retaken for an A and B) Kinesiology major
GPA at second school: 3.6
MCAT: 507 (May retake before summer)
Clinical Hours: 500+ in cardiopulmonary rehab
100+ Hours orthopedic surgery
D2 athlete w/20 hours/week commitment
Volunteer: habitat for humanity, SMA walkathon, food pantries.
Work: personal trainer for 8 months
if it helps/is appropriate: alumni at several schools (parents, grandfather, uncle)
Potentially beginning masters in exercise physiology in fall. Would drop if I was accepted to med school
My big concern is obviously low gpa From college 1, but like I said it includes a D and F. both of which were retaken. i have an upward trend aside from those 2 classes, and my gpa from second school is good. It only includes 5 courses, and all are high level science courses. Thanks and best of luck

So what are your total GPAs (cGPA and sGPA)including every course ever taken(including the D and F)?
Including D and F, cGPA from both schools is 3.1 and sGPA is 3.0
Not including the D and F, just the retake grades, cGPA is 3.3 and sGPA is 3.4
That’s a pretty big jump, which is why I want to point out that I had those two bad grades and retook them and did much better

But AMCAS and AACOMAS both count all of your courses. There is no grade replacement. Do you have any shadowing ? Your MCAT is fine but your GPAs are too low for MD. You might be okay at some new DO schools but mainly because of the MCAT. A Masters won’t help for MD acceptance but probably will for DO.

I realize they don’t have grade replacement, my concern is about whether or not committees will realize the detriment those two courses have to my gpa, and how Much better it is w just the retakes? And yes I have shadowing, 100+ hours of both MD and DO, including surgical OR hours. along with 500+ clinical hours of cardiopulmonary rehab

Those two courses alone didn’t give you a 3.1 cGPA.

I suggest these DO schools with your stats:
ACOM
ARCOM
NYIT-ARKANSAS
ICOM
BCOM
UIWSOM
UP-KYCOM
WVSOM
LUCOM
PCOM Georgia and South Georgia
LECOM (all schools)
CHSU-COM
WCU-COM
LMU-DCOM

its good that you retook them, but it doesn’t erase that you did poorly in the first place
