tl;dr: Searching for med schools, looking for suggestions based on my current resume.

Hello all, I am a pre-med student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I am currently in my final semester of my undergrad, and I am hoping to begin medical school in August 2022 following a gap year. Recently, I have been browsing some medical schools and have found that it is a far more daunting task than searching for undergraduate schools. I am feeling some anxiety about my prospects of getting into med schools with my current resume, and I was hoping to get some guidance on where I should be looking for schools. A few parts of my resume are as follows:

GPA: 3.35

MCAT: 512-514 (Predicted based on average of practice exams) (To be taken on 4/23)

Research: 15 months Biomechanics lab, co-author of two papers

Work experience: Two separate ambulance companies, with experience in both emergency calls and nonemergent transports

Volunteering: 150 hours working as volunteer medical staff at university events, 30 hours working with small local homeless program

Leadership: Two Seasons as squad leader in collegiate marching band, two years as dance instructor and executive officer of small student organization, one year president of same org

Licensures: EMT-Basic

I am really concerned that my GPA will make many schools toss out my application and that it may have limited my options, but at this point there is little that I can do about that. I am hoping that having real patient contacts through my work experience will improve my chances, but I do not know to what degree.
Feel free to critique my resume, but what I am really hoping for are the tools with which I can search for med schools. I am also open to any direct suggestions.

If you took the time to read all of this, thank you!

Well nobody can help you predict anything until you have an actual MCAT score. So when you receive it come back here and post it. . People will be happy to help. I will say that your ECs are very weak. You might want to consider putting off applying until June 2022. Spend some time reading WAMC threads and see what others are doing to build their applications. Your GPA is pretty low for MD( average matriculated GPA at MD schools is 3.7x). So there is that to consider too. Have you researched DO schools? You should. That might be the most viable path to becoming a doctor. But DO schools have expectations too, so you’d still have to build a better application.
Good luck with the MCAT.
