Greetings SDN , I'm having a little imposter syndrome and getting nervous that my app is weak on the EC side of things as I don’t have genuine patient responsibility experience like MA or EMT, more so volunteering. I'm taking 2 gap years to finish my MPH right out of undergrad because I'm interested in merging public health and medicine (My personal statement is focusing on that journey with experiences), so we apply for the 2025 cycle to join 2026. I just need help in how I fit with these schools when I apply in a few months (and if there’s anything I can do from now till application time.). Thanks!!! Let me know what else I can elucidate

You non clinical volunteering hours are low. You should accumulate another 50+ hours at a homeless shelter of food bank before you submit your application. Otherwise, you could be screened out at some schools. Schools such as BU and Creighton expect far more clinical and non clinical volunteering hours than you have. I suggest these schools if you are applying as a Georgia resident

I agree you need to build your service orientation hours. Are you near 150 with Hope Lodge, Coffee with Veterans, and Winstar Cancer Institute responsibilities? If so, keep going.

Let us know what your applied experience is and how it relates to a narrative about becoming a physician.
