Hi, I am a SC resident and have taken the mcat twice with my highest score being 503, my cGPA and sGPA is 3.99! I want to apply to the the three IS MD schools, however, what do you think my chances would be? I also need to make a list of DO schools, I want to apply to places not too far with good match rates because the stigma behind DO has always scared me... any help would be amazing!

Do you have any physician shadowing hours or clinical volunteering/employment hours with patient contact ? Any non clinical volunteering ?

Please fill out a WAMC; additionally, we need to know all MCAT scores and in the order in which they were received (not just the 503) because schools (generally) consider all MCAT scores together.

  1. cGPA and sGPA: cGPA: 3.99 sGPA: 3.99
  2. MCAT 1: 497 (123/121/128/125), MCAT 2: 503 (125/125/126/127)
  3. State of residence: South Carolina
  4. Ethnicity and/or race: Asian Female

  8. Shadowing experience and specialties represented: I've done around 50 hours of shadowing an MD interventional cardiologist Looking to get more diverse shadowing in the next few months.
  9. Non-clinical volunteering: 200 hours of temple volunteering, 100 hours pre-health club volunteering
  10. Other extracurricular activities (including athletics, military service, gap year activities, leadership, teaching, etc): more than 3000 hours as a part of a bollywood fusion dance team (leadership roles secretary and manager) for 3 years, competed nationally; part of indian cultural organization for 3 years, hosted a bollywood fusion dance competition (3 leadership roles)
  11. Relevant honors or awards: Dean's List

With a 503, DO schools should be your major target. Fortunately you have some DO schools near you such as PCOM, VCOM-SC, and Campbell.

Can you better describe your non-clinical volunteering? The lack of detail suggests your activities are a hodgepodge and may not be deeply meaningful.

I suggest these MD schools with your stats:
Your 3 South Carolina state public schools
Belmont
Alice Walton
Methodist (when it opens)
For DO schools I suggest these:
VCOM (all 4 schools)
CUSOM
PCOM Georgia and South Georgia
WVSOM
ACOM
WCU-CM
LMU-DCOM (all schools)
BCOM (Florida campus)
LECOM-Bradenton
NOVA
OCOM
UP-KYCOM
Your best chances are at DO schools.
