Thank you! (This is a repost from earlier, but I didn't get any replies and I think it got lost in the sea of posts lol)

What is the nature of your non clinical volunteering? It’s looks kind of clinical. Strong profile otherwise.

They are in a clinical setting, but what I did wasn't really clinical. For the peds one I would mostly play with the kids to help distract them and for the COVID clinic I helped check people in and set up the events.

@wysdoc could give you more advice about Texas schools and where Texas residents have had success OOS.
California schools are tough for Texans but I heard from one who interviewed at USC last year and also TouroCA & Western Pomona
Other schools relatively friendly to Texans: Georgetown, George Washington, VCU, Drexel, Creighton, Loyola, EVMS, UCF, & some of the upper midwestern states that have several med schools.

Thank you for your recommendations, I'll make sure to do more research into them. I'm only applying to those California schools because I have strong ties to them but I won't be expecting much love from them.

Thank you again!

As a URM with a solid MCAT and profile, I feel like it's definitely worth a shot.
