I finished my psych degree and changed my mind to premed right after graduating, and my science background is lacking. Both GPAs are tanked by dual enrollment I took in high school when I was a burnout with no goals in life. Without the dual enrollment, I'd have a 3.55 sGPA and 3.75 cGPA. I am completing bio II & orgo II this july, and then wrapping up with biochem in Fall.
I am wondering if I can just shoot my shot at applying now, being that I have FAP and my prereqs will be complete before potentially matriculating. I'm worried I won't be demonstrating well enough that I can handle the rigor. I know I am even more disadvantaged with not getting my MCAT score back till late July. I was originally planning on applying next cycle, but I just want to start this next chapter sooner.
I am only taking my prereqs *after* my MCAT because these schools have had issues semester after semester getting me into my classes as a nontrad doing DIY, or my work schedule didn't line up at all and online classes weren't an option. When I once again had errors enrolling this Spring, I didn't want to waste the time off, so I started working on my MCAT.
I am honestly REALLY looking to stay in PA, VA, NJ, or FL. I can't do this without a support system. I plan on applying to all of the schools in these states, both MD and DO. Geisinger and EVMS are top of my list and would be cheapest (for me) and closest to my support systems.

- 3.56 cGPA, 3.24 sGPA
- I know it's annoying when people haven't taken it yet, but I'm averaging 510 on 4 FLs so far and test June 27 so I have plenty of time to improve as I'm studying ~35 hrs/week
- VA resident, lived in PA 16 yrs, NJ a few years as well. FL ties(?)
- ORM
- Middle of nowhere state school for undergrad
- 2100 hrs patient companion 1:1
- 750 hrs psych tech, 1400 projected
- 120(?) hrs lit review on racial inequities in special education I presented at a statewide conference
- 40 hrs shadowing, half w/ derm family member and half w/ PCP
- 350 hrs local outreach for children w/ club in undergrad
- 80 hrs big brothers big sisters, 240 projected
- 850 hrs babysitting
- 540 hrs club board (we didn't do presidents, VP, etc) for social justice org on campus. Still very involved trying to create a nonprofit for alumni to uplift current members in undergrad.
- Staff member of the year at my psych hospital - crazy story with catching a stroke just in time
- Psi Chi ??
- Won campus-wide art contest
- I rollerskate and record music in my free time and have done both since I was like 11 so a lot of hours there
- Also, like 6 Ws; one was from a class I realized I flat out didn't need that I was auto-enrolled in and missed add/drop by a day. 5 for freshman spring semester after experiencing SA. I can craft that into a poignant story (if needed) about growth and persistence and how I learned a lot about myself after that much-needed break.
